Painting Tools
MFA Candidacy Exhibition, 2019
Texas Christian University
This body of work examines the features and formal qualities of digital image editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, by taking them out of their original context and reinterpreting them through oil painting. In this way, the computer software becomes a strong formal and conceptual influence throughout the process. Certain attributes which are gained in this process are paint texture, object-hood, and surface finish; they allow the viewer to have a richer perceptual experience of the painted image.
This project was completed for the Master of Fine Arts program at Texas Christian University. It was shown in a group exhibition at Fort Worth Contemporary Arts.
